CRYSTAL METH DOCUMENTARY

Pioneer Productions are making a new documentary series for a major American broadcaster about the social and scientific effects of drug use. As part of this we are looking to speak to current users of crystal meth who would be willing to talk openly about their experiences.

We’re looking for people that can help explain what it feels like, why they use, how it can become addictive and how it has affected both their own lives and the lives of their loved ones.

From the party to the problem

No one starts using substances with the intention of becoming an addict and no one would start using unless there was some pleasure caused by drug consumption. This series will explain both the science of why these substances can give intense pleasure for some people, but then lead to extreme pain and dependence for others.

We’d like to hear a range of voices - from those that can use recreationally without dependence, families who want to help their loved ones stop using, to those whose lives are now controlled by crystal meth.

We’ll use computer generated imagery to jump into the user’s brains and bodies and explain the science of the high and why the drug causes such extreme changes in mood and behaviour.

We have a wealth of knowledge and experience in sensitive observational filming and realise that a volunteer’s involvement is a working progress. We therefore never ask that volunteers decide immediately- just that we can have an informal and confidential chat about the project and what it would involve. This kind of program is about building good relationships with our participants so that they are always comfortable and happy with the filming.
